CASUALITIES IN THE GARDEN

I cut down the frozen-to-death Powder Puff shrub (Calliandra haematocephala) yesterday.

As you can see there are small sprouts from the ground again, so I had to remove the frozen-to-death branches before I would have damaged the small sprouts.

I am so happy it sprouts again because the shrub is always full of red, puffy flowers whom the nectar-gathering insects are humming and buzzing around. It was 8-10 F when it froze down in January.

What do you think?
