STELL AV LAVENDEL FØR FROSTEN
Nå er det tiden for å forberede plantene for vinteren. Lavendelen opplever jeg alltid som en av de vanskeligste til å overleve både i Oslo og på Orust.
I Oslo har du større håp om et stabilt snødekke enn her, to timer og 30 min syd for byen.
Det beste du kan gjøre er å legge litt ekstra kompost/jord rundt stammen når den første frosten har markert seg. Du kan sikkert dekke lavendelen med bar eller løv, det vil nok hjelpe en god del.
Det er viktig å ikke klippe den noe ned nå. Alt som er av løv og ekstra grener beskytter den mot kulden og uttørking. Du kan fjerne stygge og visne blomster, men ikke noe mere. Det beste er å klippe den om våren når frosten har sluppet.

HOW TO CARE OF LAVENDER BEFORE THE FROST
It is now time to prepare the plants for the winter. I find lavender one of the most difficult plants to survive winter in Oslo and on Orust.
In Oslo, you have more hope of a stable snow cover than here, two hours and 30 minutes south of Olso.
The best thing you can do is to add a little extra mulch around the stem when the first frost has made his mark. You can also cover the lavender shrub with conifer branches or dry leaves, it will probably help a great deal.
It is important not to cut it back now. All that is of leaves and branches protects it from the cold and desiccation. You can remove the ugly and faded flowers, but nothing more. It is best to cut the lavender in the spring when the frost has released.
