WHERE DO YOU WRITE?
Cecilia Mary Gunther (CMG) in the blog called Thekitchensgarden challenged her readers to post a picture of their workplace under the definition “where I write”.
And I wish I could say it was here, outside in my garden soulfully gazing around on the shrubs and flowers I did my writing, but no.
This is my writing place. CMG pointed out that we should not tidy up before we took the picture, and I certainly didn’t. And I haven’t arranged anything on my desk. This is the place I write, work and play. You can even see my Rottweilers bone on the carpet. I have no windows in the immediate vicinity, I sit upstairs on a kind of a mezzanine open to the whole ground floor.
This is my workplace.I have a nice hand cream, drinks sparkling water (preventing snacking), have a measuring tape at hand (because inches is not that simple for the metric people), tags from plants I have planted and empty seed packets which names I enter into a spreadsheet to keep track of everything in my garden, notes and lists, “Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary of current English” (since I’m not native English) garden books, and catalogs, lip balm, hairclip, and a part of garden hose (needed the dimensions) and my husbands new camera lens.
What you don’t see (thankfully) in the picture are the coffee stains and the crispbread crumbs.
Have a really, really nice day y’all!

Monday, April 11, 2016Lovely open space. I like to be able to see & hear what happening around me from my desk. When I was working at a desk, water, handcream and lip balm were necessary comforts, as well as 2 screens.

Monday, April 11, 2016My photo didn’t show the three pairs of shoes I’d kicked off and never put away, the heap of books on the table in front of me, and the plate with lemon syrup cake crumbs…. I couldn’t fit ALL the mess in! Your desk looks lovely, well used, and best of all, you have a dog who visits underneath!

Tuesday, April 12, 2016That’s my kind of workplace. Outdoors on a recliner is all well and good, but not for writing – the screen of the laptop is invisible, and anyway, I just fall asleep.

Tuesday, April 12, 2016Yes, my kind of work space also! Makes me feel so good to see someone else works as I do, crumbs and all. I don’t know how Kate sees you have a dog that visits underneath, but that’s just the cherry on top if you do. Thank you for the picture. ~ Mame :)
